Shu Uemura's is great for the gangster look
This product was advertised online as a cream. It is a paste. The front of the tube says it's "hold cream." The back of the tube says it's "for controlled, slicked back look." I'm a bit too conservative for the gangster look. It will work for you if you are young and want the punk look. If you are older and want your hair to look natural, this is not for you. This was the second product I bought online that is a paste and not a cream. Today, I used Bumble and Bumble's Brilliantine. It's a cream, and it works great. It is about twice as expensive as the Shu Uemura but worth it. And no, I don't own any stock in Bumble and Bumble.

The cream is super powerful so you don’t need a lot to get the good hold. There’s to residual feel and the texture is natural. Love this so much!
