Niacinamide 5% Emulsion

I love the Ordinary Niacinamide 5% face and body Emulsion. I use it after I've used Ordinary Glycolic acid facial toner and it keeps my face calm and hydrated and tones down my redness. The product is not sticky or greasy at all and to be honest it doesn't feel like I'm wearing much but over the last few months of using the niacinamide emulsion I have no skin breakouts and no skin redness anymore!!!! Using this has made my skin tone even, and at last I don't need to wear makeup which is amazing as I'm in mid 40s!!! P.S I really wish Ordinary was around in the 90s!!!

Great product

I have already finished my first bottle and I am waiting for the second! I love this product. This emulsion absorbs immediately. It is perfect for my dry to normal skin.

Got expensive

I used this serum after trying out other serums by ordinary. It worded good after a month. But h noticed the brand got expensive.

Not for Nut Allergy People

I really loved this emulsion, but sadly, it does not love me. What I like: Serum-like lotion, which is perfect for layering under richer creams with actives. Niacinamide combined with a mild AHA mix is extremely moisturizing and brightening. The Problems: This took me awhile to figure out, but basically, if you put a common allergen (in this case, a nut oil) in formulation with AHAs and a mildly-occlusive base, you create a perfect storm for contact dermatitis, because the AHAs compromise the skin barrier, making the skin more permeable to the allergen, and then the emulsifiers lock the allergen against the skin for prolonged periods. When I used this just on my face and hands, it was fine, but when I put it on my outer forearms, where the skin barrier is already compromised by prior years of sun exposure and lots of hair follicles through which it could gain deeper entry into my skin, I got a rash so bad that the only thing that would fix it was a course of oral steroids my doctor had to prescribe. Because nut allergies are relatively new to me, and still kind of unpredictable, I did not think to even look for nut oils in the ingredients list (even though I scan ingredients very closely, because my skin also hates salicylates and zinc), so I missed this. And then when the problem only showed up on my arms, it seemed like an allergy didn't make sense, so I had to have that part explained to me. But now I get it, and I wonder why a company like The Ordinary would even choose a nut oil to add to a product like this, when nuts are such a common source of allergies for so many people. I wish I could just switch to the 10% formulation, but my skin is also no fan of zinc. Honestly, I would be thrilled if there was a company that used all of the great actives and support ingredients, with none of the allergens, zinc, fragrances, and salicylates, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, I thought my fellow allergic types should know about this. I'm going to reluctantly throw mine away, because nut allergies are not predictable enough to use my face as a testing ground.

Light and easy

My favourite Ordinary product! So lightweight and easily absorbed. No stickiness. A perfect undercoat to more heavier moisturisers. Love this product addition in my skincare.

Made my KP worse

I’m wondering if there is a period of our skin freaking out before it gets better with this product, because my keratosis pilaris got WAY WORSE after using this for a few days. The niacinamide and zinc serum works really well for my face so I thought I’d try this product and it’s not hydrating plus my KP is outta control. Unsure what’s happening. I’m pretty annoyed about it because I had just gotten it under control and my arms were looking really good using a new Korean body wash. Overall I’m a bit disappointed.

A must have

It is so good!! I have been using it for my face and body and my face has become so glowy and even. Not sure how much it helped my body but I just bought a second one! Highly recommend

I don’t get the hype

I didn’t try this on my face, but I went through 4 bottles of it on my body over about 2 months. I saw no difference. It feels nice, caused no irritation, seemed a bit hydrating. But I didn’t have dry skin going in. I wanted to brighten skin and lighten dark spots - as this is advertised to do - but saw no benefit. Price is decent, but as a body serum, it only lasts me about two weeks. So not really all that cheap in my use case. I’m just going to stick with a single moisturizer with actives and not buy into the body serum idea just yet. Maybe better ones will emerge in the future that would be worth adding into the body routine, but I don’t think this one is it.

The right percentage!👌🏼 Plus the quantity

Amazing formula! Since the Niacinamide must to be between 2% and 5% for better results on skin. Those with higher percentages are just marketing, our skin doesn’t need those percentages. It absorbs quickly and isn’t sticky. For those who get confused with this presentation because it says "face and body", honestly, any niacinamide can also be used on the body, so if you already have another brand, don't be afraid to use it on your chest or back. Niacinamide is the same (at least it comes with other ingredients) and that's why it makes no difference to be used on the face or body. Another advantage of this product is the quantity. I love that!! Because I particularly use it every morning and night 7 days and this bottle lasts longer than the other brands that generally come with 30 ml

Lightweight and convenient

Nice and lightweight, I use this as a moisturizer on my face and body. It's not irritating at all and the pump makes it convenient to apply.

must have for soft skin

the formula is amazing! it made my legs feel sooo soft and smooth.
