So grateful for the high quality, affordable products from the ordinary, while also being vegan/cruelty free. The trifecta! This product has improved the appearance of my acne scars, brightened my skin and has helped reduce acne. Start with 1-2x a week, don’t do more than 4x and make sure you wear sunscreen. Great beginner retinoid.

It made a huge difference for me

This product helped me a lot with mild acne and also reduced dynamic lines and improved texture. Also I love it because this formula leaves a sensation of hydrated/moisturized skin and I don't feel the need to apply a moisturizer. I have sensitive combination skin and this product is perfect for me. Much better than the other the ordinary retinoids in oily formula. Highly recommend, I've been using it for 2 years now. Carefully and gradually introduced it in my week routine, now I can use it everyday. The changes occur in months but definitely worth it

I’ve been using this serum for years now. I used to have an uneven skin tone and dark spots due to sun damage. After using this serum I have noticed a huge improvement in my skin over all. I wouldn’t go without it.

Purging caused cystic acne & scarring

‘Purging’ left me with cystic acne on my cheeks - the scars of which live on 5 years later. I managed to get through my teenage years without any acne scarring, and this product did it in 4 weeks of use. Proceed with caution!

Mild and creamy

I really like this version of retinoid, because it does not sting and feels very mild. It's in an emulsion / liquid moisturizer kind of format and does not sting or dry out my skin. I have aging normal to dry skin. I rotate it with other Ordinary and NIOD products.

My favourite retinoid!

This retinoid is magical for my sensitive, oily, acne prone skin. It is well tolerated, non greasy and well absorbed. I put it after my exfoliating toner and before my moisturizer in my evening routine. And next day my skin is very smooth, the pimples are smaller or have quite disappeared. I love it! And I'd love to go to a 5% emulsion someday.

Gentle retinoid with moisture!

TLDR: Doesn't irritate my skin at all, but could be just a little stronger. Make a 5% version please!! My skin looks better than when I don't use any retinoids & it doesn't seem to break me out like the squalane based serum. The few pimples I do get seem to take longer to heal though. I'm in my early 40's with sensitive, dry, & acne prone (mostly hormonal) skin - which is really difficult to work with! Most products I try either make me break out or are too drying. I was using adapalene gel for a couple of years and was happy with the results other than the continued low level dryness and peeling I had to deal with. Also while adapalene is a retinoid, it's more for acne and doesn't do as much for fine lines as other retinoids. I am reaching a point in my life where lines are more of a concern, so I wanted to try something different. I have used TO squalane based serums in the past and those always broke me out and made me feel oily rather than hydrated, so I wasn't interested in those formulations. This one seems to be my Goldilocks serum so far, not drying and not greasy, wonderful! I use moisturizer over it but I almost feel like I could get away without it in the summer which is unheard of for my skin. My only complaint is that the pimples I do get seem to linger longer than when I used adapalene, and if I try to spot treat them with BP cream (tiny tiny dot!) I'll get an irritated rough spot that lasts for weeks which didn't happen before. I think a higher concentration of GR in this formulation would be my Holy Grail, this one is so close but not quite there.

Poor Product Quality

I have been using this product for years. I usually purchase a couple bottles at a time. I recently bought this product and as seen on several other review pictures it was separated (clear liquid on the bottom and cream on top). In all my years I have never seen this before. I did shake the bottle before use but the serum was watery. The quality of the product was not the same, for a person who have been using this for years I am so disapponted they would change the formula or cut quality. This product use to be thick and creamy not the watery consistency it feels like now. Very, very disappointed. The original founder never wanted to compromise the quality of his products, he said this many times in several videos. STOP cutting corners and product quality.
